Student Exchange with Hino, Japan

March 24th- April 4th, 2025

The Redlands Sister Cities Association invites you to be a part of our longstanding student exchange program with Hino, Japan, spanning over 50 years.

This program offers a unique opportunity for students aged 14 to 19 in 2025 who are enrolled in Redlands schools at the time of the trip to immerse themselves in Japanese culture. During the Redlands Unified spring break, participants will embark on a 12-day journey filled with enriching experiences. Stay with welcoming host families, engage in local cultural activities, and explore historic landmarks across the country.

The tentative dates for the trip and during RUSD's spring break, March 24th- April 4th.  approximate cost per student ranges from $2,000 to $2,600, covering airfare, railway transportation, and other travel expenses. While participants and their families are responsible for these costs, we actively support students in organizing fundraisers to offset expenses.

To apply, students must submit a 500-word essay and attend an interview. Selected candidates will participate in orientation meetings and fundraising initiatives before departure.

After the trip, the students will be expected to host a Japanese student during their trip to Redlands the last week of July/ first week in August in 2025. Students will also be expected to help recruit the next cohort of students for the following trip.

Don't miss this opportunity to broaden your horizons and foster international friendships. Apply now and embark on a journey of a lifetime!

Applications are due April 26 2024. Interviews will be scheduled the first week in May.
